Aromatherapy is an ancient art using a mixture of essential oils to help relieve stress, rejuvenate the body and enhance a general overall feeling of wellbeing.

Essential oils are found in plants and are extracted by distillation or compressing the flowers which is a long process sometimes making the oils expensive to buy.  For example it takes 40,000 individual and- picked jasmine flowers to make one 5ml teaspoon of oil.

The best way to get effective use from aromatherapy essential oils is through inhalation.  The nose is very sensitive and has many tiny nerves that get triggered form different aromas.  You can use oils in many different ways to get the benefit of them.  You can add them to water for a relaxing bath or put the mix in a spray bottle and use as a room freshener.  There are many different candles on the market now that contain pure essential oils or direct onto bed linen.  Whatever way you use them they all have the same desired effect depending on the oil.  The one thing to remember is never apply essential oils undiluted on your skin, they must always be mixed with a carrier if oil if you are using them for massage
